Meridia drug description

Important Information
If you have taken M.A.O. inhibitors in the last 14 days, such as Furazolidone (Furoxone), Isocarboxazid (Marplan), Phenelzine (Nardil), Rasagiline (Azilect), Selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or Tranylcypromine (Parnate), do not take Sibutramine. If you take Sibutramine before the M.A.O. the inhibitor has cleared from your system, severe and life-threatening side effects can occur.

- An underactive thyroid, seizures, a bleeding disorder, depression, a history of gallstones, or above 65 or below 16 years.
- Inform your doctor about prescription and over-the-counter drugs you are taking, especially antidepressants, cold and allergy medicine, narcotic pain relievers, and migraine medications.
- If you have not lost a minimum of 4 pounds after four weeks on the medication, contact your doctor.
What to know before taking Meridia?
If you have taken M.A.O. inhibitors in the past 14 days, such as Furazolidone (Furoxone), Isocarboxazid (Marplan), Phenelzine (Nardil), Rasagiline (Azilect), Selegiline (Eldepryl, Emsam), or Tranylcypromine (Parnate), do not take Meridia. If you have any symptoms, you might need to adjust your Meridia dosage or have special tests:
- Glaucoma
- High blood pressure
- Liver disease
- Kidney disease
- Depression
- Underactive thyroid
- Epilepsy or seizure disorder
- Blood clotting disorder
- A history of gallstones
- Older than 65 or younger than 16
It is uncertain if it will harm an unborn child. If you get pregnant during treatment or plan to become pregnant while taking Meridia, tell your doctor. It is unclear whether Sibutramine passes into breast milk or whether it could harm a nursing baby. If you are breastfeeding, do not take Meridia without first consulting your doctor. This medication should not use anyone under the age of 16.
How to take Meridia?
- Take Meridia as prescribed by your doctor. Do not take Meridia in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
- Take Sibutramine once daily. Pay attention to your doctor’s instructions.
- Your doctor may adjust your dose from time to time to ensure you get the best results.
- Take Sibutramine with or without food.
- You should lose at least four pounds during the first four weeks of taking Sibutramine and eating a low-calorie diet. If you have not lost a minimum of 4 pounds after four weeks on the medication, contact your doctor.
- Your doctor will monitor your blood pressure and pulse regularly. You should see your doctor regularly.
- Do not use Sibutramine for more than two years at a time.
- Store Meridia away from moisture, heat, and light at room temperature.
- Do not give Sibutramine to anyone else. Place the medication in a secure location where others will not be able to access it.

- Dangerously high blood pressure, including blurred vision, severe
- Headache, buzzing in your ears, anxiety, seizure
- Very stiff or rigid muscles, sweating, confusion, high fever, feeling like
- You might pass out
- Easy bruising or bleeding (bleeding gums, nosebleeds, or any
- Bleeding that will not stop)
- Chest pain, pain spreading to the arm or shoulder, general ill feeling
- Sudden weakness or numbness (especially on one side of the body),
- Problems with vision, speech, or balance.
